 Jim Thompson, Managing Director

Jim began his career in 1993 as a research fellow at the University of Cambridge in nano-technology and semiconductor physics. His work has been published in international journals and presented at international conferences. During this period, Jim also acted as a consultant to the Thermo Electron Inc Semiconductor Equipment division and in 1996 he took a full-time position with them.

In 1998, Jim was recruited to work for Applied Materials at their HQ in Santa Clara, California. Applied Materials are the largest provider of semiconductor equipment in the world. Jim was responsible for launching multi-$100m products in the US, European, and Far East markets. In 2002 Jim moved to a corporate role, responsible for improving aspects of the marketing and sales activities of the company.

Jim is originally from Scotland and set-up CogBooks in 2004 while living in California. Jim was educated at the Universities of Manchester and Cambridge.


Robert Rogowski, Head of Development Services

Robert Rogowski has held a number of roles in Communication and Learning Strategist for multinationals including ABB, Siemens, and Coca-Cola. Robert ran a range of education and internet consulting projects in the engineering, telecommunication, consumer goods and advertising industries, Uworking for both F500 and start-up businesses.

In 1998, Robert graduated from the Russian International High School in Prague. He received an MA in Linguistics from the Gdansk University and his MBA from the Warsaw University.


Brian McGhee, Chairman

Brian was an employee and world-wide partner in Anderson Consulting until 1996. In this role, he worked in the UK and Ireland, as well as France, Germany, Norway, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, US, South Africa, Jordan and UAE.

Since 1996, Brian has been held the rolesof chairman and board member with a range of private and publicly held companies, including: G1 Group plc, Vianet Group plc, Saltire Leisure Group, City Site Estates plc, Magnum Power plc, Thorburn Colquhoun Holdings plc, Infinite Data Storage Limited and Pentranic Group Limited.

Brian was educated at the Universities of St Andrews and Glasgow and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.


John Thompson, Board Member

John has spent the past 25 years of his professional life successfully creating and growing business?s. Working at executive level as CEO and Chairman he has operated internationally, both acquiring existing companies and setting up new operations. John provides key strategic guidance to ensure that the sales and marketing, and the operational and financial structures of a business support the achievement of its objectives.?


Martin Togneri, Board Member

Martin is a senior director with wide academic, private and public sector leadership experience in both executive and non-executive capacities, including extensive overseas-based experience. He has worked extensively on strategy, general management, organisational change and international marketing and business development roles.?

Martin has held positions as Director and Dean of the Caledonian Business School, Chief Executive of Scottish Development International and a Director of Cadence Systems Europe.

Martin was educated at the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.


Diana Hayden, Board Advisor

Ms. Hayden has more than 20 years experience in management, operations, learning and organizational development roles in high technology, banking and academia. She held the role of Managing Director of Applied Global University at Applied Materials, Santa Clara, CA., As VP of HR and Infrastructure for Replicus Software, she directed the organization start-up including recruiting, operations, financial and business management. Ms. Hayden served as VP HR, Learning and Development at VERITAS Software in Mountain View, CA, where she founded VERITAS University. While at Oracle Corporation in Redwood City, CA., she held the position of Director, Strategic Planning and Communications for Oracle University.

As Director of Executive Education at Northeastern University in Boston, MA., Ms. Hayden worked with corporate executives and business school faculty to develop customized leadership development and organizational change programs.

Ms. Hayden holds a BS in Business Administration and an MBA degrees from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
