Our Advanced Adaptive Learning platform recognizes that students have personal education needs and matches course content to them individually. Our approach helps them learn faster and more effectively. It’s better for students, and better for teachers, making more effective use of everyone’s time. And it keeps adapting and learning to continually improve.
The platform adapts to each student in four different ways:
Our underlying recommendation engine intelligently learns about each student as they interact with the course. The system uses this knowledge to continuously adapt the student’s path through the content, ensuring a journey which best suits their individual needs.
Formative assessments and other interactive activities are woven throughout the course material. These individually assess each student’s understanding of the topics covered in real time and influence where they go next. Those with a good grasp of the concept move closer to completion while others are helped to build their understanding.
Many subjects – like history – are taught around an obvious linear path, and adapting the order of topics would hinder students’ learning. So CogBooks lets you set a clear sequence through a course but layer vast amounts of supporting content around each stage. How much of this content each student is served depends on their understanding of the main topics.
Research shows that students benefit from having a say in their learning. CogBooks incorporates student agency into the platform with simple tools which help students self assess their understanding of each concept. And, if they want to dig deeper into a particular topic, they can choose to view supporting content that might not be their primary recommendation.
